Before - and after!
What a difference a day - and a band of industrious woodland volunteers - makes!
If you are walking in the Millennium Woods, do take a moment to appreciate the creation of a scallop in the woodland edge - as recommended in our woodland management and biodiversity plan, informed the Wildlife Trust's ecological survey.
In introducing a gradient to the edges, and letting light in to the forest floor, we are making it a more friendly habitat for a wider variety of species - the biodiversity that is so threatened. We start with more life on the forest floor - flowers, insects - and then the rest (birds and mammals) are more likely to follow.
Thank you to everyone who helped.
