We are delighted to report that we have been successful in our grant application to the Winslow & Villages Community Board to move forward with exploring the potential of the Millennium Wood. This will allow us to:
Hire an ecological consultant to conduct a field assessment, identifying the wood’s biodiversity challenges and potential. This will happen in the spring, and we will organise an event at which the consultant can present their findings and recommendations to the village.
Fund forest school leader training for two practitioners — one each from Padbury School and Padbury Pre-school.
Run a series of free woodland activities and workshops during school holidays, aimed at different ages. More details soon!
Organise events/talks on greener living for the community.
We know from our consultation at the Greener Gardens Weekend that there are many villagers who are keen to roll up their sleeves and get involved. There will be plenty of opportunities for some fabulous community days making space for nature on our doorstep — watch this space for updates.
